Also known as tarmacadam and asphalt in Croughton, tarmac is a cost effective solution to replacing or widening an existing driveway, or simply installing a new driveway for the first time. A well designed and expertly laid driveway can completely transform your home, creating a finished appearance and even adding value to your property. A driveway shouldn't just be functional - It's often the first thing that people notice about your home, and, as such, it should be a perfect blend of style and practicality. New tarmac can completely transform your driveway, creating the perfect first impression for any property.
To enhance the appearance of a tarmac driveway in Croughton, it can be edged with block paving to create a framework for the tarmac. You can even match the border to the house decor to bring the whole front garden together. With an array of designs, colours and finishes to choose from, P & R Contractors have something to suit everyone's tastes.
The most popular tarmacs come in three finishes:
6mm Smooth Tarmac
The 6mm relates to the maximum size of the aggregate used in its mixture. This mixture gives a brilliant smooth finish, perfect for the average domestic driveway.
10mm Smooth Tarmac
The 10mm again relates to the maximum size of the aggregate used in its mixture. Like the 6mm, this mixture gives an excellent smooth finish, perfect for a domestic driveway which takes heavy traffics, e.g. small car parks, or houses with a number of cars or heavy duty 4x4s.
20mm Tarmac
The 20mm Tarmac is for much heavier usage, including roads and major car parks. This is rarely used in a domestic environment, but is still an option in some exceptional cases.
Before deciding which option is best for you, our fully qualified staff will take into consideration the traffic type, drainage, gradient, friction and access. Every minor detail is checked to ensure we deliver the perfect finish with minimum disruption, so you can relax knowing that your property is in safe hands.
As well as driveways, we also offer tarmac services for other paving projects including car parks, cycle paths, pavements and even tennis courts. Our tarmac pavers and rollers come in a variety of widths, allowing us to work on any size project.
Some of our services include:
Repair
Repairing surfaces damaged by potholes, tree roots, excessive use (particular from large vehicles), and old age. This usually includes the complete removal of the damaged area down to the base, with new tarmac put back in place.
Overlay
This is the best solution for when the original tarmac is in good condition but you want a new look. It's considerably less expensive than completely replacing your existing driveway, and will still add years to your driveway surface. In order for an overlay to take place, any potholes or damaged areas must be repaired beforehand. With good maintenance, an overlay can last for 12 years+.
Re-construction
This includes completely removing the existing tarmac down to the sub-base level and re-paving with new tarmac. This process is normally considered to be the 'end-all' solution to existing tarmac problems. The life expectancy of re-construction is generally 15 – 20 years plus. This number can dramatically increase depending on the traffic usage.
Seal Coating and Re-Striping
Both of these are easy and inexpensive ways to rejuvenate the tarmac surfaces of car parks. The clean, black surface can make a car park look brand new again.
Whichever option you choose, you can expect full site management, including milling, excavation, hardscaping, landscaping, and lighting. For more information, please call and speak to one of our friendly members of staff who will be happy to advise you on the best surfacing solution for you.
